 Very limited capabilities August 31, 2010
BOOK REVIEW
I downloaded the trial first and highly recommend that you take this software for a test run before you invest in it. Personally, I found the software to be extremely buggy. I had heard that many fixes had either been made or in the works but until they do a lot more upgrading to this product I wouldn't get it.

I received this program and I was really excited to open it and get started. I designed a layout and when I went to cut it out, a message box popped up stating that I had to insert all cartridges used in the design. This is definitely a different "story" than what is advertised. Yes, you can access all cartridges and create designs with the program, but you can't cut it out unless you have all the cartridges you used in the design. This also means that you have to have the Cricut Jukebox(s), so you can use multiple cartridges, otherwise you can only use one at a time. Overall, the program installed easily and is also easy to use. Just have to realize that you have to spend big bucks on the cartridges anyways!! The Professor
The Cricut Design Studio Software is great! It allows me to be able to actually put words together so that they cut in one piece. That eliminates having all of those separate letters to try to glue onto my paper in line...they are already in line.
It is easy to install and operate...it does require that you have the Cricut machine (of course). You also must have the cartridge that goes with the font you are printing.
The software would be better...if it could cut the letter fonts that are already part of your compter fonts.

With the design studio you can see designs you may miss just using the cartridge and your Cricut. I was surprised at how fast it was to look at all the different designs on your cartridges. Also, you can place the design anywhere on your sheet. Love it!

If you use your cricut a lot, this software is a must. By planning out the cuts on a computer screen, you can optimize even small scraps of paper. Cut everything you need for a page or card in one go. The interface for this software could be better, but it gets the job done. I look forward to the next version of this software.
